Visibility timeout tuning: Set visibility timeout to expected encoding time + buffer. If a 1-hour video typically encodes in 30 minutes, set 45 minutes. Too short: jobs become visible again mid-encoding, causing duplicate work. Too long: failed jobs wait unnecessarily before retry.

Chunking constraints:

  1. Chunks must start at keyframes (I-frames). Video codecs use inter-frame compression; P/B-frames reference previous frames. Cutting mid-GOP (Group of Pictures) produces undecodable output.

  2. GOP alignment must be consistent. If source has irregular keyframe intervals, re-encode to fixed GOP first, or accept variable chunk sizes.
